Dangerous Sugar Addiction Symptoms

 

The symptoms of sugar addiction can be tricky to spot and seriously problematic if not caught early enough.

In our online research and they can be hard to identify correctly.

We have been using sugar for our entire lives. A lot of us have incorporated the feelings of sugar, both positive and negative, into our daily lives and our psyche.

In other words – we just think that these roller coaster feelings and health issues are kinda normal.

That this is our life.

“I’m tired sometimes, cranky sometimes, irritable occasionally, I gain few pounds here and there and I just have a “sweet tooth”.

It’s when we pass into awareness that sugar may be harming us in some way that we start to see the patterns in our behavior and that they coincide with our sugar intake.

That’s when it gets interesting!

It doesn’t matter how you came to believe that you may have an issue with sugar, the important part is that you did and that you’re here.

So what are the important symptoms to look for?

Let me throw in here the easiest test of all, no need to list a bunch of symptoms if you have an inkling that sugar might be an issue for you.

Just go without sugar 100% for a week, one simple, easy test.

If in days 2 through 5 you experience severe withdrawal-like symptoms (lethargy, irritability, strong hunger or cravings for refined carbs or sugar, some real depression and possibly flu-like symptoms) then you solved your puzzle!

I mean technically if you have no addiction to say steak or salad and you said: “No steak for seven days”, then you do it with no issues or strong cravings then we would conclude that you weren’t addicted to steak.

Most folks can go a week without steak and won’t experience any “symptoms” right?

Why should sugar be any different?

As the kids say: “It’s just a thing.”

Try it!

Go a week with no sugar and report back.

A few of you may think I’m a bit of a wise guy with my possibly flippant answer to an honest question.

What are the symptoms of sugar addiction?

I’m just trying to inject some common sense and maybe a bad attempt at some humor into a heated issue and time in our personal history and this worldwide obesity pandemic.

This is not a knowledge gap issue anymore.

Heck, some of you guys may know more about the symptoms of sugar addiction than I do at this point. 

But I know how to quit and I can teach you.

Scientists with lots of letters behind their names have created lots of lists and done lots of studies.

Marketers from the Paleo, weight loss, fitness, vegan, raw food and publishing world have jumped on a hot topic to sell their stuff.
