Quitting Sugar and Your Willpower

Don’t care to read?

For this one I did a very short video too.

(It’s that important)

Less than 5 minutes.

“I don’t have any willpower when it comes to quitting sugar”

I’m “weak willed”

“I just can’t seem to stop eating sugar”

Any of these internal voices sound familiar?

Do you say them, or something like them, while throwing your hands in the air in desperation?

Seriously, not to beat you up but, how many times have you quit sugar? Insert number here _______.

Most folks think that quitting sugar means steely willpower. Olympic athlete type determination to be strong enough to just say no!

  • To mean it this time.
  • To just get a few days or weeks sugar free to see if it might help you lose a few pounds or stop the “fog brain” in the morning.

For some folks it’s way beyond that.

You’ve flirted with diabetes.

You’ve been diagnosed and told to quit the sugar or you’ve heard the “you are pre-diabetic “ from your doctor.

You would think that that is enough of a wake up call for folks to just stop right?

Wrong.

You would not believe the number of people we work with that STILL can’t “just quit” after hearing those words.

I’m not trying to scare you.

I’m just emphasizing that – you are not alone. This “little issue” is hard no matter who you are.

The first step is to give up the idea that your willpower has anything to do with the process of quitting sugar. It doesn’t.

Or the idea that you have to quit forever. Most people don’t.

What WE have to do is to help you see and understand that there are simple step by step methods that you can employ to walk yourself out of the danger zone that is excess sugar consumption.

I will tell you that the process is a simple one.

It’s simple but it’s not easy

Re-read the last line.

What I mean to convey to you is that ANYONE can do it but only the committed folks succeed.

That said, the hardest part is all over in like 10 days! After that you have to be vigilant in what you eat but not obsessive.

After a quick detox you will feel so much better physically, you’ll almost certainly lose some weight, but mostly that feeling of being “weak willed” will have left you for good.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve quit sugar 100’s maybe 1000’s of times.

Just think, in ten days from now you could be looking back at a huge success  … ten days sugar free!

I did a quick video for you (less than 5 minutes) talking more about quitting sugar and your willpower.

Check it out here.

You know we’re in this together right?

I’ve done a lot of cool things in my life but nothing compares to the thank-you emails, the in person hugs and social media thank you’s that you all send me for playing any part in your journey to control sugar.

Till tomorrow.

Be well,

Michael
