An Easy Sugar Detox — Willpower Not Required

An Easy Sugar Detox - Willpower Not Required.

No one can deny that an effective sugar detox is life changing.

We’d all like to just be able to put down the sugar – or at least have better control over it.

After much preaching folks are starting to get to the idea that once the sugar is out of our systems then the cravings go away too and the process gets much easier.

But getting to sugar-free for at least a week or more seems to be the hurdle.

We are in the process of developing a comprehensive sugar detox that will be as simple as we can possibly make it.

So I decided to share a few highlights today.

The main ingredient in a sugar detox is not some magic herb, special diet, or superfood smoothie.

The main ingredient in a sugar detox is your WHY…

What, you ask, is my why?

Your why is simple.

Why are you doing this?

Why do you want to get off sugar?

Without the answer to this question, you are doomed to fail.

Some people have been told by a doctor to either stop the sugar or start thinking about blindness or limb amputation, in other words, diabetes or pre-diabetes has been diagnosed.

Others just want to lose a few pounds.

The largest two new groups we’ve worked with recently are the folks who are just concerned about their overall health and the folks who are concerned about brain health.

With all the reports in the news lately, folks are loving the clearing up of the brain fog they had during their sugar using days.

More importantly, they feel they are building a hedge against the possibility of all the new reports tying sugar to Alzheimer’s and dementia.

I can tell you after watching my beloved mother, the lifelong sugar junkie, succumb to Alzheimer’s and then my father right behind her – that scares the s*#t out of me.

So how do you deeply ingrain your why into your system so it provides motivation during the tough times?

This takes a little self-reflection first.

Some people move toward pleasure and the other group moves away from pain.

The first step is to find out which you are.

It’s easy to just look back and see which ways you’ve had success in the past.

If you’ve thought and worried about all the bad things that are going to happen to you and then they never did… you would fall firmly in the move away from pain group.

If you’re a great visualizer and you can see all the good things in your life before they happen  …and then they magically appear – then you move towards pleasure. This is what all the get rich books teach.

Either method is fine just use the one that seems to be embedded in your hard wiring.

So if you’re in the first group you might want to move away from the idea of having any disease that sugar might create.

This becomes your why. Like mine for example:

“I swear I’ll do everything I can to prevent my kids from having to watch what my brothers and I have had to endure with my parents”

The second group of great visualizers might want to see themselves in that beautiful future that they are moving towards.

I always loved this quote:

“Borrow from the beauty of tomorrow to enroll yourself in the activity of today.”

If you see yourself as a thin and healthy person, doing all the activities that you can’t do today – then do just that.

See yourself doing those things, looking that way. That’s your why.
