Asking for Help.

Asking for Help with sugar detox

Man I need to get out more.

Staring at this screen can play funny tricks on your mind.

Yesterday I took a beautiful walk in the sunshine. I thought I was becoming a bit of a vampire.

By the time the workday was done, combined with daylight savings time and I was doing all my walks at night.

The sun on my face was excellent. A little Vitamin D hit I guess.

In general, I’m a severe introvert.

Like the most severe – according to the tests I’m in the less than 1% of folks and that’s the most introverted category.

Still, humans are herd animals and meant to be together. Sure I need my alone time but I like and need to be with people too.

The problem is the reaching out.

In order to have a date on Friday night, you need to think about it on like Tuesday or Wednesday. I always seem to remember that on Friday at 5:30.

Even in platonic friendships, it’s difficult to be the one to reach out and say: “Hey would you like to go to lunch and just catch up?”

I always feel like I’m bothering people.

Like they don’t need to hear my crap – they’re busy with their own lives.

After I finally do screw up the courage to call someone or meet for bubbly water, I feel great.

Forget about asking for help.

That raises the bar to an entirely new level.

The idea of calling someone to talk about just my stuff is very foreign and still feels strange. It’s a wonder I stayed sober at all – – as that is one of the main tenants of recovery.

Reaching out and asking for help, that is.

I’ve never been to good at it.

In this world that is sugar addiction recovery the same concept applies.

If you’re reading this you’ve take the first step in a journey to wellness and freedom.

Folks try it on their own.

They try willpower. Hard.

They try fad diets, cleanses and detoxes.

But they never seem to get to the next level – long term sugar freedom – until they do this one thing:

  • Be honest with some other folks about exactly where they, exactly how they feel and ask for “a little help.”

We all know this BS about the rugged individualist, the self-made woman, the “strong one.”

Hell, if I had a dollar for every woman who did everything for everyone else in the family but nothing for herself I could fund all the scientific research on the planet and solve this pandemic tomorrow.

One of the beauties of running a sugar recovery website with lots of traffic and clients is PATTERNS.

We get to see patterns every day.

Patterns of the folks that succeed and sadly of the ones who fail. Well not fail exactly as more than half our success stories actually had “failed” before. Either with us or with some other detox or diet.(or ten)

So what’s the pattern of the success stories you ask?

It’s simple – they are “involved.”

Simple word, simple concept.

They log on to the forum almost every day.

They broadcast (within the private group) their wins and losses.

They tell us how they feel. Oh, My!

They hold themselves and let us help them be held accountable.

See most folks don’t really want to quit sugar.

Surprised I said that?

It’s true.

What they want is to have us teach them how to control it and use it like they “think” everyone else does.

The word “normal” comes up a lot.

But they’re also tired.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired.

So they humor us – just to see if it will work for them.

And guess what happens?

BAM

Like magic, they have 30 day or 60 days off sugar!

They’ve lost weight steadily and they feel amazing…

Then they have a decision to make.

Are these crazy, funny, honest, trustworthy folks right? Have I been struggling alone for years or decades with this crap and some guy and his silly secret forum is getting people off sugar and back to their normal body size? Who knew?

And it all starts with reaching out and just asking for help?

Here’s praying that’s all there is to it for you.

Helpful hint number 777:

Stop over thinking this thing.

It’s a lot easier than it’s been before.
