Enough Already – About Sugar Cravings & Sugar Detox

Helping with sugar is really about community

This is, after all, a popular site about sugar addiction and it seems, thanks to Google’s awesome tools, most people are interested in their sugar cravings – how to defeat them or stop them – and how to detox from sugar

But what if I told you that none of that even matters?

What if I told you the real key to losing weight, controlling sugar and coming to a level of peace with sugar had nothing to do with all that?

Well it doesn’t.

Seriously, while all the physical manifestations are very real – the solutions are far from physical.

Most people aren’t ready for the truth so if that’s you – it’s best you click away now.

You see the real key, to working through any personal development issue really – as Doctor Phil always says, is some level of personal insight.

Personal insight? What the heck is that?

It’s the the ability to be aware of your own behavior in the context of the world as background.

It’s your ability to take a truly non-judgmental and completely unbiased look and yourself. To be 100% honest in what you see – or to have a trusted friend, who is traveling the same path, tell you with kindness and empathy that your view of yourself needs a little tweaking.

To detach from all of the crap around you, your past ideas and to open your mind to the possibility that your view of the world may need correcting.

It’s why talk therapy is such a big business.

I’m all for therapy BTW. A good therapist’s job is to simply lead you to your own conclusions of what you want or need to change.

By listening to you for real (maybe the first time anyone ever did) they mirror your own knowing and allow you to solve your own problems.

So what if you’re not a big fan of going to a doc and sitting and talking or you can’t afford it?

Two things we’ve found invaluable in your quest to know yourself better so you can solve your own issues. These actually work for anything but we’ve found them indispensable when it comes to quitting or controlling sugar in your life.

The first is a journal.

It doesn’t have to be a fancy leather bound one. A $.99 cent notebook totally dedicated to this project will do. The first step, even before you begin to detox, is to start to just write down how you feel just before you eat sugar.

This is much harder a commitment than it sounds. Our desire to continue to ingest is much stronger than our desire to understand and control it right now. But I promise you if you are just hyper vigilant in doing this little exercise the rewards it will produce will astound you.

The key is to be honest with yourself…

Sometimes it’s no easy task. It’s like a muscle that needs both exercise and constant repetition. If you write how you feel in your journal every time you feel the need for sugar you can walk out of this in no time.

Soon patterns will develop.

You’ll begin to see that it has nothing at all to do with the feeling of sweetness in your mouth and everything to do with altering how you feel about a certain life situation.

By understand this at a deep level you’ll see that, possibly, you don’t want to deal with these life situations by numbing out with sugar.

Honestly, for this to work, you have to be really ready to take control of at least this part of your life.

The second, non physical component to controlling sugar in your life is  — community.

In a society awash in sugar, 84% of all processed foods contain sugar, you need a literal secret society to socialize with, learn from and support you in your journey.

This part scares people a little.

They want to be able to do it on their own.

But in over 25 years of helping people control sugar in their life I have rarely seen someone succeed in isolation. The general society is just not ready for some of the information or changes that are needed to shift this behavior – and that’s OK.

Hanging out with people who are doing something you want to do is not only motivating and invigorating it’s down right fun!

You forge such a strong bond.

They become your rocks and you theirs.

It’s no wonder 95% of our participants are women. Women know the power of this. Men are a little slower…

The power of a strong community invested in your desire to quit sugar, lose weight and regain your health just can’t be measured.

In the age of the Internet, some of the strongest communities I’ve seen have been online. 12 step meetings work for some people and I would recommend them if they are for you.

Many of you know we have one of the strongest communities in the world online when it comes to support, information and downright experience in the field of sugar addiction.

If you have an interest in checking out our private online group – please join us here. It’s completely private and no one will even know you are participating. (Well until you start losing weight and have to tell them how and why!)

Be well,

Michael
