Are the Holidays a Tough Time for You and Sugar?

Are the Holidays a Tough Time for You and Sugar? Christmas, Thanksgiving, halloween and sugar addiction

I can remember turning off all the lights and moving to the back of the house to watch TV on Halloween night. I didn’t even want to answer the door! It just hurt my heart to see all the kids collecting all that candy and I certainly wasn’t giving any out.

It may appear I’m starting a little early in talking about the holidays but Halloween is the biggest candy day of the year and it doesn’t matter if you’re an adult. There is still lots of candy floating around that day.

Big free bowls in every business and home.

Then we launch right into Thanksgiving and Christmas which is even harder because of the connection to family, love, and food.

Pies, cookies, cakes and more baked and bought with love to share at loving gatherings.

Lot’s of people think the connections to sugar, family, holidays and love are lost on me. They see me as some single-minded anti-sugar campaigner.

Nothing could be further from the truth. My family was no different than yours growing up. We participated in all the sugar rituals just like everyone else. I loved my treats of every kind. My dear mother was/is a bonafide, self-admitted, sugar junkie. She made sure our supply never ran dry.

Sadly, these traditions that are ingrained into our society are hundreds of years old and no one questions them.

The science wasn’t there before to make judgments on what was causing certain illnesses.

Then there was the whole “fats vs sugar” controversy which wasted 30 plus years going in the wrong direction and probably causing the obesity pandemic.

I think the hardest thing for people to understand and fight against is the 100’s of years of traditions that have grown up around the use of sugar. It is so deeply ingrained in our society that being the “odd man(or woman) out”, when you decide to take a look at your sugar use and possibly make a change, is so very difficult.

This the biggest complaint and the biggest stumbling block I find. (if you let it be)

It’s the falsely perceived social isolation!

You’re a member of a family. Heck, you’re the mom maybe. You’ve been a faithful member of the sugar society your whole life and never gave it a second thought till that extra weight crept up on you.

Now after some research and years of trying to follow the advice of the diet gurus and “quit the white stuff” you’ve come to realize there might be a little more to it than that – based on your inability to keep the promises you make to yourself to quit or cut back.

Well, I’m here to tell you that despite feeling alone on this topic in your own family or peer group –

– you are not alone!

It’s kind of weird ground swell.

When I started this website five years ago there was a grand total of 5 or 6 books under the term “sugar addiction” at Amazon.

Today there are over 150 books! Pages and pages of them. (Most are crap BTW) I’ve already written about the good ones.

People are wising up. People are getting concerned.

If you’d like to meet a group of people who see the world as you do right now, who are concerned about their weight and their health then check us out here: Quit Sugar Now!

I’ve said it many times. This process takes a lot more support than most people think. It takes a few people that support you, dare I say even love you, in the process of changing these long ingrained habits.

And that’s all it is folks – a habit.

It’s a habit with some serious teeth for some folks. That’s who we specialize in. We take the tough cases. The folks who’ve tried all the other diets, potions and points.

I hope to see you soon in our private group.

Don’t let this holiday season be like all the others. Draw you line in the sand today.
