Today was a good day. I got to laze around for the morning before prepping for Thanksgiving festivities. I ate well today and it was a bit of a challenge because of the car. When I take a car ride longer than 30 minutes I ALWAYS want to eat. It is out of boredom to give me something to do to stay awake and alert. But this time, despite not feeling well (yea, monthly visitor!), I didn’t stop for snacks. I ate an apple and some pumpkin seeds I brought with me and survived my little day trip in the car!
I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving with my family, but keep your fingers crossed for me as I’ve always been in charge of making all the goodies…skilled sweet potatoes, cranberry chutney and pumpkin pie! I actually think I’ll be ok not eating most of that stuff, but I have to be honest that I am mourning the loss of my chutney. It is probably my favorite. Bad thing is that I also think I can’t get out of making it, because my brother-in-law is convinced that I am the ONE AND ONLY person that can make the chutney right (even though I follow to the letter a recipe…apparently when my sister makes it is just not as good! hahaha).
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and don’t let your family and friends give you too much grief if you pass on the sweet stuff and just do a little extra helping of turkey, salad, potatoes and whatever other goodies you make for the holiday!
Do you have a yummy recipe that you would like to share?? Comment below or on our Facebook Page because I’d love to build up my arsenal of healthy good recipes!
I am VERY thankful that I have this outlet, you, lots of loving friends and family and the Health guy to support and help me achieve my goal!
I made it through Thanksgiving! Had a wonderful time. Did much better than I usually do, didn't do as well as I had hoped. Guess I'm going to concentrate on the positive. I'm proud of you for taking on this major challenge. You are a legend in your own time!
Bobbi, You definitely need to focus on the positive! I’m so glad you had a good time and did better than previous years! That is a step in the right direction. I think you can’t be too hard on yourself for not being perfect. You are doing awesome!
I try to remember that if I slip up it doesn’t have to bring me down entirely, but I can accept that I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be and then I focus on getting back on track and trying again!
We’re in this together and I appreciate your support!!
So glad to hear it Bobbi!! It was a toughie for me at times; though more after Thanksgiving than the actual day. Totally concentrate on the positive. You don’t have to be perfect, but every little effort is a step in the right direction I think! Thanks so much for the encouragement and support! Hugs!
Bobbi, I’m so thrilled to hear you had a great Thanksgiving! And just remember no one expects you to be perfect, the fact that you are making the effort is HUGE! We are both on the right track!!
Thanks for all the great support and encouragement; you are a BIG help through all of this. Hugs!
Great spirit! I believe that you can do it! A lot of people will give up half way and I glad to know that you are still being strong. I normally bring snack when I am driving for long journey. It’s not that I want to eat, it’s just that I have motion sickness so I have to bite on something to keep me focus. I love sour snacks and it is not good for health. I will be looking forward for your updates. Hopefully everything will turn well for you. All the best!

Thanks so much for the kind wishes!! I was nervous about that trip but glad I brought snacks…glad to know I’m not the only one who needs a little snack in the car. 🙂
I appreciate that beautiful video, thank you! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Thank you also for the well wishes and the beautiful video. That really brightened my day!
I hope that you’ll be having a wonderful Thanksgiving. You should take a break from your diet and spend your Thanksgiving eating happily with your family. If you can’t do it for a day, maybe for that just one meal, just eat and be happy.
My recent post Welcome to the Sugar Addiction Challenge!
Thanks so much for the comment and thought Becky, however what I learned last year is that I can’t take a break from my eating habits and splurge on sugar. I had been sugar free since July of last year, so I thought it would be ok to take a break and enjoy Thanksgiving, then it was Christmas and then New Years and then every couple weeks and then every couple days and I was right back to eating lots of sugar before I knew it. So, for me I now know that I just can’t eat sugar at all.
However, I am extremely happy and have discovered I don’t need food to make me happy. The withdraw can be rough, but it is worth it to be free of a substance that has no value to my life and health. 🙂
I really appreciate the thought and comment and hope you have a fabulous holiday!!
Thanks for the comment Becky and for the well wishes. Unfortunately I learned last year that for me there is not taking a break from not eating sugar. I quit last July and didn’t eat sugar until I thought a splurge on Thanksgiving would be fine and then it was Christmas and then New Years and then every couple weeks and then WAY too often.
I now realize that it just needs to be cut out as there is no benefit to it at all. And I can be very happy without it; I need to not have my happiness dependent on food. I prefer to just enjoy the time i have with my friends and family at the holidays, 🙂
I hope you have a fabulous holiday and thanks again for the thoughtful comment; I really do appreciate it!
